  GSU Drawing I Digital Works (Fall Semester) Ari Bradley Artist Statement: My name is Ari Bradley and I've had the pleasure of finding love, other forms art are nice, but drawing is my soul mate. This collection of work displays not only my skill set, but a crucial characteristic of mine as an artist with a strong work ethic. Before the semester started, my sole intention for taking this class was to build my basic skills and experience my first art class at the collegiate level in hopes of a revitalization after not taking art classes for a year. During the Fall 2022 Semester, I produced these in my journey to polish my basic skills in technical production of each composition while these assignments gave me to opportunity to experiment with mediums like charcoal and white charcoal. This class challenged me in numerous situations (more specifically, my self-portrait) to take liberties as an artist and apply the relevant teachings of Professor Nuni Lee. Future Collage

Future Collage Hollywood Director (Medium: Cardboard, Construction Paper, Prints, Velvet, Oil Pastel, Tin Foil, and Magazine Scraps) This post is about visualizing a future goal. Making collages has always been fun and I like a challenge of finding materials to achieve the vision I sketched out. The scene I created is of a reality where I'm a film director striking it out in Hollywood. Los Angeles sits on the left hand sign lit up and a highway wall separates it. On the right is the majestic beauty of palm trees and distant mountains. At the forefront are lights, a camera monitor, and a crew person at the mercy of the director's chair. I worked about 3 weeks on it including conceptualization and pasting down materials and think it turned out great.

Artist Challenge(Line Art)

House is a Home Medium: MicronPen + Pencil House is a Home is essentially an artist challenge where we were to choose an artist we had interest and who had skills we could draw inspiration from. Franklin Booth- a 20th Century Line Artist had an iconic, unmatched style I always planned to replicate sooner or later. I used a MicronPen to create our house and unkept front yard. I felt the piece come out fantastic, but time constraints withheld me from fully detailing the grass and adding clouds. At the end of the day, this has to be my best piece out of all and marks me as an advanced artist.

Proportion Piece

Anytime, Anyplace Medium: Graphite Pencil This artwork was made with the intent to improve my facial proportion skills. I drew my past, present , and future self using my mirror-image as reference. The biggest challenge for me would be the actual proportions because i don’t look like myself exactly and resemble. Otherwise, I had fun shading each version of myself and doing the different hair textures.

Still Life

Still Reality Medium: Graphite Pencil, Crayola + PrismaColor Pencils After the cloth/drape sketch, we were given a Still Life project to apply what we had learned. I and other classmates constructed a still life from which we all contributed and drew from. I made sure I added every detail along with the wrinkles in the cloth. One challenging issue I had was working in color- something I’ve never been comfortable with; this project pushed me at the same time built my skills. As for the piece as a whole, I liked how it turned out and how the risk taken paid off as many people admired the pineapple’s work. It took me 2 weeks to complete and I’m doing that, I gained much knowledge.

High Contrast Drawing

High Contrast Drawing Medium: Sharpie As a class, we were challenged to do a self portrait in Sharpie to focus on his contrast. The picture referenced had very little light, so the actual work’s lighting is intentional. We did use grid to transfer our proportions, but I’m not satisfied with how it turned out. An improvement would be the proportions and I would of done the background with ink instead of Sharpie to create a solid gradient.

Cloth/Drape Sketch

The Cloth Medium: Conté Crayon I practiced drawing cloth which was hung and put under low key lighting. Overall, I think this practice was productive I’m getting me familiar with clothing texture and movement. The only improvement I wish I could make would be choosing one color. I tried to venture into brown and colors as I am lacking in that area, but it brought down the sketch. Overall, this was a great learning experience.
